Greetings!
I am Michelle Augustine; Director and On-Site Provider for Educational Program: MAC-PREPARATORY CARE INC. (Mentoring Amazing Children in the Community… One Day at a Time).
BACKGROUND: I originated from Trinidad, West Indies and migrated to U.S.A. in 1988 with my family. My husband and I, are the proud parents of three children ages 9 to 16 years old; whom we enjoy spending quality, family time with on varied occasions (vacations, ministry, museums, parks…).
EDUCATION: Presently, I hold NYS Permanent Certification as a Special Education Teacher (K-12); NYS Provisional Renewal Certification as a School Psychologist (K-12); NYS Office of Children and Family Services- GFDC Preschool Licensure (Ages 2 to 12 years old). Additionally, I hold a Masters of Education in Educational Leadership, Minor in Early Childhood Education, and SBL- School Building Leadership in Early Childhood Leadership.
MOTIVATION: My life- long passion was to open a high-quality preschool program in order to facilitate the academic and social/emotional growth of youngsters, in order to better prepare them for the early years and beyond. As, a teacher for the past sixteen years, I was amazed at the high percentage of children who came into the classroom; lacking fundamental skills needed for academic and social growth at varied stages throughout development. So, my son Mac(now aged 9); was my motivator to help bring to fruition: my passion/vision of a high-quality preschool for a diverse group of youngsters in order to stimulate their early growth and development in the skill areas of Reading Readiness, Language Development, Number Concepts, Science Exploration, Social Awareness, Creative Arts and Music/ Technology Appreciation.
GOAL: As an early educator with a passion for learning and teaching, my goal is to provide a safe and developmentally appropriate environment that fosters: Creativity, Imagination and Exploration in Play and Learning; in conjunction with the incorporation of Effective Strategies that make learning easier and more rewarding for both the student and the teacher.
STAFF CREDENTIALS: Instruction and Supervision are provided by NYS Certified Licensed Teachers, School Psychologists, and Professionals with specialized training in Early Childhood Education, CPR & First Aid.
